Your Domain

To have a website you need to have a domain. For instance, we are Argyll Technologies and we chose this domain name which is argylltech.com. This is the 'address' where our tech business lives, the internet address.

You will either already have a domain name or you will need to get one. If you already have it then you will need to transfer it over to this hosting service from where ever you have it. In which case go to the paragraph headed Transferring In to ArgyllTech.com.

Getting A Domain Name

Your actual domain name is entirely your choice, however, it makes sense to have your business name or part thereof. Let's assume for the moment that you have a self-catering cottage in Dunoon (Rose Cottage). A good name (if available) might simply be rosecottagedunoon or rosecottageselfcatering, ultimately it would be what you want.

The 'tld' or which ever type of domain ending you have will depend upon availability or even price. So, rosecottagedunoon.co.uk would be the cheapest along with rosecottagedunoon.uk both at £9.95 all inclusive for a year (please note this includes any support that you may need)

So, Step 1 for you is at the top of this page input your choice of domain name (dont bother with .co.uk .scot or any tld) and the system will check the availability. If your choice is available then add it to the basket and then go back to 'Step by Step' for Step 2 (Please Note, that if the domain name has "transfer" in red, that means it is already in circulation and only the owner can trnsfer it into ArgyllTech.com)


Transferring In to ArgyllTech.com

If you have already procured your domain somewhere else you can transfer it in to ArgyllTech.com (you still own it). If the TLD (top level domain) is .co.uk or .uk there is no charge for this (from us). To do this go to the box at the top left and type in your existing domain name and press the search icon. You will be taken to your domain and here just click on 'transfer'. After that go back to 'Step by Step' for Step 2
